Delhi 24-04-23: India continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, with daily new cases dropping significantly but still remaining below 8,000. The number of deaths has also decreased. In the past 24 hours, India reported 7,178 new cases and 8 COVID-related deaths. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has announced that the number of active cases in India has dropped to 65,683.
At present, only 0.15% of people in India are undergoing treatment for COVID-19. The number of total deaths in India has risen to 5,31,345. As of Monday morning, a total of 4,43,01,865 people in India have recovered from the virus, accounting for 98.67% of all cases. In the past 24 hours, 208 new cases have been vaccinated, bringing the total number of vaccinated people to 220,66,39,736.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has announced that on April 23, a total of 78,342 samples were collected from people across India for COVID-19 testing. The country continues to ramp up testing efforts in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus.
