Agartala, March 12, 2025: A state-level seminar on “Classical Swine Fever” was organized yesterday at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan by the Department of Animal Resource Development. The seminar was inaugurated by Animal Resource Development Minister Sudhangshu Das, who emphasized the role of pig farming in generating employment and boosting the rural economy of Tripura. During the seminar, the efficient management and production of the Pig Breeding Farm in Jalefa, South Tripura, were highlighted.
The event, financially supported by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, witnessed the participation of around 200 veterinary officers.
Key speakers included agribusiness expert Vijay Sardana, Dr. S.N. Barman, Principal Scientist at NIVEDI, Bengaluru, Dr. Arnab Sen, Principal Scientist from West Bengal, and Deepa D. Nair, Secretary of the Animal Resource Development Department, Tripura. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. N.K. Chanchal, Additional Secretary and Director of the department.
