Agartala 8 March, 2025: The overall development of the state remains the top priority of the current government. Developmental activities are being carried out consistently across the state. The government is committed to the welfare of all communities, including Indigenous people, women, children, and senior citizens. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government and administration are working tirelessly for Tripura’s progress. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha made these remarks while inaugurating an event at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan today, marking the completion of two years of the current state government. The event, celebrating two years of governance, was attended by Cabinet Ministers including Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Industry & Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Social Welfare & Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, Cooperative Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, MPs Rajib Bhattacharjee and Kriti Devi Debbarma, and Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan.
The Chief Minister, along with other dignitaries, unveiled a booklet and a folder detailing the achievements of the state government over the past two years. Speaking on the occasion, CM Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha congratulated public representatives, administrative officials, and the general public for their contributions to the state’s progress. Highlighting the state government’s achievements, he stated that Tripura’s economy has improved, GDP has increased, and people’s purchasing power has grown.
In the 2023-24 financial year, the state’s per capita annual income rose to ₹1,77,723, and GDP increased to ₹82.82 thousand crore. Tripura is advancing as a front-runner state in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Over the past seven years, 20–22 new projects have been launched, and 30 people-centric policies have been introduced or revised. The successful implementation of central flagship schemes like PM Awas Yojana, PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, PM Ujjwala Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat has significantly benefited backward regions of the state. The Chief Minister emphasized that the government is ushering in a new era by integrating technology-driven transparency, efficiency, and accountability in administration. From 2018-19 to January 2025, 16,851 individuals have been recruited across various departments, with an additional 5,771 employed on an outsourcing and contractual basis.
Employment opportunities are also being generated through the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation and other avenues, leading to a reduction in the state’s unemployment rate below the national average. The Chief Minister further stated that around 23 lakh people have benefited from the Ghar Ghar Sushasan (Good Governance at Every Doorstep) initiative, which ensures administrative services reach citizens efficiently. The ‘Amar Sarkar’ portal for grievance redressal has been praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various state governments. The law and order situation has significantly improved, fostering a conducive environment for investment. At the recently concluded Investors’ Meet, 787 investors signed MoUs worth approximately ₹3,700 crore. The healthcare sector has also seen substantial advancements, with 4.3 lakh people benefiting from the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The Chief Minister also discussed key sectors such as national highways, Indigenous welfare, tourism, agriculture, and social welfare schemes. Extending his wishes to the women of the state on International Women’s Day, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment. To ensure financial independence for women, Tripura currently has 53,623 self-help groups (SHGs) with 4.84 lakh members.
The state now boasts 91,871 Lakhpati Didis. Additionally, 3.87 lakh SHG members are benefiting from the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, while 3.14 lakh members are enrolled in the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. Government initiatives for women include 33% reservation in government jobs, 50% reservation in government stalls, hostel construction, pink toilets, and LPG connections under the Ujjwala Yojana, benefiting 3.12 lakh households. Furthermore, 1.22 lakh bicycles have been distributed to ninth-grade girls. The Chief Minister highlighted several state-level schemes aimed at socio-economic development, such as the Mukhyamantri Nagar Unnayan Yojana, Mukhyamantri Khel Unnayan Yojana, Mukhyamantri State Talent Search Program, Mukhyamantri Pratibhashali Puraskar, Mukhyamantri Pashudhan Bikash Yojana, Mukhyamantri Matsya Bikash Yojana, and Mukhyamantri Samajik Sahayata Yojana. He also noted the successful organization of major events like the NEC Plenary Meeting and G-20 programs. Regarding disaster management, he praised the collaborative efforts of the government, administration, and public in overcoming the recent flood crisis. The event was organized by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, featuring a documentary showcasing the government’s development initiatives. In his address, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha stated that the administration, guided by the progressive vision of the current cabinet, is streamlining governance and attracting more investments. He emphasized that the united efforts of the government and administration have led to swift and effective decision-making for the welfare of the state and its people. The event commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. P.K. Chakraborty, Secretary of the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs.
