Tripura, March 8, 2025: The Women’s Development Cell of the College of Fisheries, Lembucherra, successfully organized the International Women’s Day 2025 celebration on Saturday at the college auditorium. The event, held at 2:30 PM, was themed “For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment”, emphasizing the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment in society.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Pampa Bhattacharjee, Chairperson of the Women’s Development Cell, who highlighted the significance of the occasion. Prof. A.B. Patel, Dean of the College of Fisheries, delivered an insightful speech on the role of education in fostering gender equality and empowerment.


A key highlight of the event was a speech by Ms. Ashmita Banik, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, Tripura, who spoke on the importance of ensuring women’s rights and building an inclusive society. She stressed the need for collective efforts in achieving gender equality and empowering women at all levels. Following the speeches, a Prize Distribution Ceremony was held to recognize individuals for their contributions to women’s empowerment initiatives.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sampa Baidya, Member Secretary of the Women’s Development Cell, who expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests, faculty members, and participants for their active involvement. The celebration ended with the National Anthem, followed by light refreshments, marking a successful observance of International Women’s Day at the College of Fisheries, Lembucherra.
