Tripura 4 March, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions making the Northeast more self-reliant, recognizing that India’s overall development is impossible without the region’s progress. In line with this vision, rapid development work is underway across the Northeast. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha emphasized this today while inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for 37 development projects in Unakoti district at a ceremony held at the grounds near Chandipur Block Office. Over ₹162 crore has been allocated for these projects.
Inauguration of 17 Projects Worth ₹24.26 Crore
During the event, CM Dr. Manik Saha digitally inaugurated 17 projects at a total cost of ₹24.26 crore, including: • Unakoti District Education Training Centre and 50-bed hostel – ₹5.97 crore • Tilabazar Higher Secondary School’s new two-story building – ₹2.28 crore • Renovation and beautification of the lake near Ramkrishna Mahavidyalaya – ₹1.48 crore • Expansion of Chandipur Block Office – ₹1.14 crore • Drinking water facilities under Jal Jeevan Mission in Nunchhara – ₹3.30 crore

Foundation Stones Laid for 20 Projects Worth ₹137.98 Crore
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stones for 20 projects, including: • Construction of District Magistrate’s Office – ₹24.20 crore • Construction of Kailashahar Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Office – ₹8 crore • New building for Ramkamal Higher Secondary School – ₹14.74 crore • Construction of District Transport Office in Kailashahar – ₹6.50 crore • Working Women’s Hostel at Paitur Bazar – ₹11.40 crore • 50-bed Drug De-Addiction Centre in Chandipur – ₹20 crore • New building for Ramkrishna Educational Institution – ₹8.51 crore
CM Highlights Tripura’s Development Under ‘HIRA Model’
Speaking at the event, CM Dr. Manik Saha recalled PM Modi’s 2018 visit to Tripura, where he promised the HIRA Model (Highways, Internet, Railways, Airways) for the state’s development. He asserted that this vision has now become a reality, with unprecedented growth in national highways, rail, and air connectivity.
He stated that Tripura is now the best-performing state in the Northeast, thanks to the “double-engine” government at both the state and center. Law and order have significantly improved, facilitating better mobility, business growth, and a rise in per capita income. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparent governance and inclusive development.
Major Infrastructure and Economic Initiatives in Kailashahar
Youth Affairs & Sports Minister Tinku Roy highlighted several key projects in Kailashahar: • ₹30 crore for Manu River embankment repair • ₹150 crore investment under Bamboo Mission • ₹100 crore for an Integrated Fishing Centre (Aqua Park) in BC Nagar
Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Amlendu Das urged officials to complete the newly launched projects on time. The event was also attended by Unakoti District Magistrate D.K. Chakma, TIDC Chairman Nabadal Banik, Tripura Wakf Board Chairman Moboswar Ali, Unakoti SP Kanta Jangir, and Social Welfare & Social Education Director Tapan Kumar Das.
At the event, CM Dr. Manik Saha handed over a ₹9.70 lakh compensation cheque to Ruma Pal, wife of the late tea garden worker Ramjoy Pal of Manu Valley Tea Estate.
