Tripura 14 Feb, 2025: A 27-year-old mosque imam, Niyaz Uddin, son of Abdul Hakim, a resident of Lowerpar under Bazarichhara police station in Assam, has been arrested in connection with a case involving a 16-year-old girl in Nowagaon under Radhanagar Gram Panchayat, Fatikroy.
According to reports, the accused was an imam at a local mosque where 40 students were undergoing training. While most students completed their training 16 days ago, the girl continued attending alone. Following a complaint lodged by her family on February 12, police registered a case and took legal action.
Fatikroy police station in-charge, Prarthanath Bhaumik, confirmed that a specific case (Case No. 06/2025) was registered under relevant legal provisions. On Thursday, the accused was presented before Kailashahar District Court.
Authorities have assured that the matter is under investigation, and further legal proceedings will follow as per due process.
