Belonia 1 Feb, 2025: Yesterday, A district-level football tournament for residential Indigenous students commenced today at BKI Ground in Belonia, South Tripura. The two-day-long tournament was inaugurated by Nikhil Chandra Gop, Chairperson of Belonia Municipal Council.
The inaugural event was attended by Deepak Dutta, Chairperson of South Tripura Zilla Parishad; MLA Mailayu Mog; District Magistrate & Collector Smita Mol; and District Welfare Officer Parendra Das, among others.
The tournament has been organized to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. During the event, the guests paid tribute to Birsa Munda by offering floral wreaths.
A total of three teams from girls’ residential schools and three teams from boys’ residential schools are participating in the competition.
