Kangpokpi District, Manipur: A protest rally organized by the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) in Kangpokpi district on January 3, 2025, escalated into violence as protestors demanded the withdrawal of Central Security Forces deployed at Saibol village.
The protestors attacked the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP), Kangpokpi, pelting stones and hurling petrol bombs. Security forces responded with adequate force to disperse the mob and restore order.
During the incident, Shri Manoj Prabhakar, SP of Kangpokpi District, sustained injuries and several vehicles were damaged. The injured SP received medical treatment and is reported to be in good health. He is now leading the joint security forces to maintain law and order in the district.
A large contingent of security forces has been deployed to prevent further unrest. The situation is under control and is being closely monitored by authorities.
