Agartala 06 November, 2024: Today, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the Mohanpur Public Library at Eiran Chowmuhani in Mohanpur. The ceremony, held at the Mohanpur Panchayat Samiti hall, celebrated the opening of a library that fulfills a longstanding dream of the Mohanpur community.
In his speech, Minister Nath expressed gratitude to the state government for supporting the project. Emphasizing the importance of reading, he remarked, “Learning is a lifelong journey, and our knowledge comes from books.”
He urged the younger generation to develop a habit of reading and shared that the state now has 29 public libraries. The Minister highlighted ongoing efforts by the state and central governments to establish libraries in every block, panchayat, and village.
The event was attended by Mohanpur Panchayat Samiti Chairman Rakesh Deb, Vice Chairman Sanjeev Kumar Das, Lefunga BAC Chairman Ranbir Debbarma, Principal of Mohanpur Swami Vivekananda College Haradhan Saha, and renowned writer Rakhal Majumdar, among others. The program was presided over by Mohanpur Municipality Chairperson Anita Debnath, with a welcome speech delivered by Higher Education Department Director Animesh Debbarma. The library will also offer access to various daily newspapers for the community.
