Agartala 26 Oct, 2024: The Tripura Health and Family Welfare Department has recently formed a high-level, seven-member committee to oversee the infrastructure and developmental activities, academic programs, hospital setup, and patient services at Tripura Shantiniketan Medical College and its proposed hospital. This committee, created as of yesterday, will ensure that all operations align with the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and offer necessary recommendations for effective implementation.
According to the Health and Family Welfare Department, the committee will monitor and address the comprehensive welfare of MBBS students coming from different regions of the country and those from within the state. Additionally, the committee will conduct periodic inspections, evaluations, and provide advice on the construction of the teaching hospital at Ranirkhamar in Madhuban. This initiative is expected to support the establishment of a distinguished tertiary care hospital in the state.
The committee will also ensure that various central and state schemes, including health insurance programs like PM-JAY and CM-JAY, are implemented effectively for patient welfare.
In terms of reporting, the committee is expected to submit an initial report within 30 days, with subsequent updates every six months until the National Medical Commission grants final approval for the MBBS course at Tripura Shantiniketan Medical College.
