Aguli 01-05-23: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been opened for small traffic in both directions on Monday, according to officials. Light vehicles are being allowed to ply from Jammu to Srinagar and vice versa, while heavy vehicles will be permitted later. Vehicles of the security forces will also be allowed to go after the heavy vehicles.
However, since Monday morning, Jammu and Kashmir has been experiencing heavy rain which may also affect the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Snowfall has also continued in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, while rain persisted in the plains.
The opening of the highway will come as a relief to travelers who have been stranded due to its closure following heavy snowfall and landslides in the past few weeks. The highway is the lifeline for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and is used to transport essential commodities and goods.
Authorities have urged caution while driving on the highway due to the inclement weather conditions. They have also advised travelers to check weather updates and road conditions before embarking on their journey.
