News 22-02-23: Justice T A Goud was appointed as the acting chief justice of the Tripura High Court, a day before incumbent chief justice Jaswant Singh demits office.
Justice Goud will assume his new responsibility with effect from February 23.
“In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud (PHC: Telangana), senior most puisne Judge of Tripura High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 23.02.2023 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Jaswant Singh, Chief Justice of Tripura High Court,” the notification issued by the Union Law Ministry said.
Justice Goud was made the Acting Chief Justice in November last year too, after the superannuation of then Chief Justice Indrajit Mahanty.
