Tripura, June 10: A youth from Khowai has lodged a written complaint at Khowai Police Station, alleging that he was lured out of his home and brutally assaulted by two individuals due to a previous dispute.
According to the victim, Paritosh Saha, a resident of Purba Barakandi area, the incident took place on the night of June 8 at around 10:30 PM. He alleged that Sushanta Debnath and Pinku Debnath repeatedly called him over the phone, hurled abuses, and threatened him before asking him to meet near the Jabbatila Market area.
Paritosh claimed that upon reaching the spot, he found the accused in an intoxicated condition. During an altercation, one of the accused allegedly attacked him with a broken beer bottle. While trying to protect himself, he sustained injuries to his hand. He further alleged that he was kicked and slapped during the assault.
The victim stated that the attack stemmed from a previous dispute that had been discussed in a local settlement meeting around 20–25 days earlier.
Following the incident, Paritosh said he initially informed Khowai Police Station verbally but did not receive any immediate response. Consequently, on Wednesday afternoon, he submitted a formal written complaint against the two accused persons.
Speaking to reporters outside the police station, Paritosh demanded a fair investigation and strict legal action against those responsible for the alleged assault.
Police are expected to investigate the matter based on the complaint filed by the victim.
