Tripura, 12 May 2026: A 35-year-old government employee was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a room in Ginger Hotel on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Vishal Akash Das, a resident of Shalbagan BSF Para and an employee of the Agriculture Department posted in Sabroom.
According to police, the hotel authorities informed the NCC Police Station after finding the man lying unconscious inside Room No. 309. Police personnel, along with the fire service team, rushed to the spot and found him lying on the bed with foam coming out of his mouth.
During the preliminary investigation, police recovered syringes and other objectionable materials from the room. Two suicide notes addressed to his mother were also recovered, in which the deceased reportedly mentioned that his “failed love” was the reason behind his extreme step. Police suspect poisoning as the cause of death, though the exact reason will be confirmed after forensic and post-mortem reports.
Speaking to reporters, a relative, Karnajit Das, said they came to know that Vishal was allegedly in a relationship and was mentally disturbed after it did not succeed. He claimed that the deceased may have injected poison into his body.
Police officials stated that all suspicious items, including the mobile phone, have been seized for investigation. Viscera samples collected during the post-mortem examination will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for detailed analysis.
The deceased’s father has been identified as Babul Chandra Das. Though originally from Krishna Nagar’s Pratapgarh area, the family had reportedly shifted to a rented house in Shalbagan Hatipara about a year ago after selling their previous home.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
