Agartala, May 5, 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha today emphasized that the present government is a people-centric administration and all departments must remain constantly alert and proactive in addressing public issues.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while chairing a high-level review meeting at the State Secretariat. The meeting, held in Conference Hall No. 2 of the Secretariat under the Task Monitoring System (TMS), was attended virtually by District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police from all eight districts of the state.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister stressed that officials must remain well-informed about their departmental activities and not rely on newspapers to learn about developments.

Focus on Traffic and Law & Order
CM Saha placed special emphasis on improving traffic management and maintaining law and order across the state. He directed officials to take immediate and effective measures to ease traffic congestion in Agartala and other district headquarters. Strict monitoring of overloaded vehicles and ensuring that electronic traffic signals remain operational at all times were also highlighted.
He further instructed transport authorities to expedite the construction of new motor stands. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to a drug-free Tripura, he directed the police administration to ensure strict vigilance, especially to prevent drug trafficking through railway routes.
Additionally, he called for increased night patrolling in vulnerable areas and strict monitoring to ensure transparency and proper functioning of nursing homes, rehabilitation centres, and sub-registrar offices.
Health and Education Priorities
The Chief Minister reviewed the healthcare and education sectors, with particular focus on Dhalai district. He instructed officials to take preventive measures against seasonal diseases such as diarrhoea and dysentery during the monsoon.
He also reviewed the management of generic medicines at IGM Hospital in Agartala and urged authorities to promptly resolve minor issues in hospitals across the state.
In the education sector, CM Saha stressed maintaining quality and hygiene in mid-day meals and ensuring a disciplined academic environment. He also reviewed the implementation of the School Health Programme.
Infrastructure and Welfare Measures
On infrastructure development, the Chief Minister directed that road repair works be completed swiftly while maintaining quality standards.
Officials informed that around 99% of power infrastructure damaged during recent storms has already been restored. The Chief Minister also instructed that there should be no delay in disbursing MGNREGA wages and that daily workers must receive their dues on time.
Call for Accountability
Concluding the meeting, CM Saha urged all officials across district and sub-divisional levels to remain responsible and aware of their duties.
“Problems will always exist, but being alert, proactive, and responsible is the best way to overcome them. Maintaining the pace of development is a collective responsibility,” he said.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Chief Minister’s Secretary Apurba Roy, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Urban Development Secretary Milind Ramteke, and ICA Director Bimbisar Bhattacharjee, along with other departmental heads and senior officers.
