Agartala/Mohali, May 4, 2026: In a significant breakthrough in the high-profile murder case of a kabaddi promoter in Mohali, Punjab Police have arrested the main shooter, identified as Aditya Kapoor alias Makhan, from Tripura with the assistance of Tripura Police and central agencies.
According to Rajan Parminder Singh, the incident took place on December 15, 2025, in Mohali, Punjab, where three shooters were involved in the killing of kabaddi promoter Ravi Balachauria. Two of the accused had earlier been apprehended from Kolkata.

“The main shooter, Aditya Kapoor alias Makhan, has now been arrested from Tripura. We have secured his transit remand and will present him before the Mohali court,” DSP Singh stated while addressing the media.
Police sources revealed that the accused had been hiding in Tripura for the past four to five months under a false identity and was working as a taxi driver in an area under West Police Station.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder was linked to inter-gang rivalry. DSP Singh indicated the involvement of the Doni Bal and Bambiha gangs, adding that the crime was carried out under instructions from a foreign-based handler associated with the gang.
Punjab Police have taken the accused into custody and are proceeding with further legal formalities, including his production before a court in Mohali for further investigation.
The case continues to unfold as authorities probe deeper into the network behind the murder, including possible interstate and international links.
