Tripura, 24 Sep 2025: Acting on a secret tip-off, police from Amtali Police Station seized 60 kg of dry ganja from a Maruti Swift car (Registration No. TR01BK0593) near Kathaltali approach road, close to the railway station bypass.
During the raid, the driver of the car, Sentu Chandra Das, was arrested. Police recovered four bags of ganja, estimated to be worth around ₹6 lakh in the market.
Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das of Amtali Police Station said:
“Yesterday evening, we received information that a Maruti Swift was transporting ganja for smuggling purposes. Based on that information, we intercepted the vehicle and seized the contraband. A specific NDPS case has been registered against Sentu, and he will be produced before the court today with a plea for five days’ police remand.”
The investigation revealed that the car belongs to Milton Dey, a resident of Komalnagar. The arrested driver, Sentu, hails from Malaynagar Rental Colony.
When asked about the source and destination of the contraband, police said interrogation is ongoing and details will be disclosed later in the interest of investigation.
The case has been registered as Case No. 100 under the NDPS Act.
