Agartala, August 28: In connection with the Pratapgarh Trinath temple theft case, East Agartala police have arrested 11 people, including a juvenile. During interrogation, police recovered two stolen gold chains, five gold leaves, a locket, and a silver necklace. Additionally, nine stolen batteries were also seized.
In a separate burglary incident at Banmalipur, five more thieves were arrested. Those detained were identified as Prashanta Debbarma (24) of Ujan Abhoynagar, Pabitra Debbarma (25) of North Banmalipur, Kamal Debbarma (24) of North Banmalipur, and Tapan Debbarma (21) of Laibahadur Chowmuhani.
Addressing the media at East Agartala Police Station on Thursday, West District Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak said that the thieves had been arrested from Chandrapur after being identified through CCTV footage. He added that efforts are underway to recover the remaining stolen property.
All the accused will be produced before the court, and police will seek remand for further investigation.
