Tripura, 22 August 2025: India will complete 100 years of Independence in 2047. To mark this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Viksit Bharat 2047 initiative, with the goal of transforming the nation into a developed country by that time. The programme focuses on economic growth, empowerment, and sustainable living standards for all citizens.
In line with this vision, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today unveiled the cover of the Viksit Tripura – 2047document at Pragya Bhavan. On the occasion, a documentary on the initiative was also screened.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said Tripura has become the first state in the Northeast to prepare a vision document under the Viksit Bharat – 2047 framework. He stressed that the goal of the State Government is to build a prosperous and developed Tripura where citizens enjoy safety, good health, and a sustainable future in harmony with nature and the environment.
Highlighting Tripura’s strategic importance in India’s Act East Policy, the Chief Minister said the state is working to strengthen economic cooperation, cultural exchange, and strategic partnership with Asia-Pacific nations. Guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the State Government is consistently working for the welfare of farmers, women, youth, and economically weaker sections. He emphasized that the foundation of a developed Bharat or a developed Tripura lies in self-reliance, encouraging the use of local resources, innovation, empowerment, and community resilience.
The Chief Minister added that Tripura has achieved remarkable progress in farmer empowerment, healthcare, digital governance, and industrial growth. Sustainable industries based on bamboo, rubber, and forest resources have provided livelihood to thousands.
He noted that rural electrification, solar power, and access to safe drinking water have significantly improved living standards. Under Jan Arogya Yojana, around 4.26 lakh beneficiaries have received Ayushman Cards, with over 8,000 patients already availing cashless treatment. The e-Office platform has been successfully implemented up to the Panchayat/Village Committee level, making Tripura the first state in the country to achieve this milestone, ushering in a new era of administrative efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
The government has also developed a Unified Farmer Database integrating land records with real-time crop surveys. Policies such as the Tripura IT Start-Up Scheme (2019), Tripura Data Centre Policy (2021), and Tripura Agarwood Policy (2021) have boosted industrial development and attracted significant private investment, further accelerating the state’s growth.
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, in his remarks, said the Viksit Tripura – 2047 document ensures strategic transformation in citizens’ living standards. Its primary goals include a poverty-free state, quality healthcare, higher education opportunities, and guaranteed access to essential civic services.
Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha said Tripura’s economic growth in recent years has surpassed that of several larger states in the country. NITI Aayog Programme Director Rajib Kumar Sen and Planning Department Secretary L. T. Darlong also addressed the gathering.
The event was attended by all members of the State Cabinet, Director General of Police Anurag, and senior officials including Special Secretaries, Secretaries, and Directors of various departments.
