Tripura, 22 August 2025: A huge amount of unaccounted cash was seized in Kailashahar, Unakoti district, late Thursday night, triggering widespread sensation across the subdivision.
Around 11 p.m., during a special naka check at Chinibagan point, police intercepted a black Maruti Suzuki S-Presso (registration number TR-05-E-0654) and recovered ₹20,63,100 in cash from the vehicle.
Two youths were detained on the spot identified as Saurav Sinha (22) and Arpan Nandi (32), both residents of the Damcherra area.
Speaking on the incident, Kailashahar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tapas Malakar said, “Acting on a tip-off, we set up a naka checking point. A huge amount of cash was recovered from the vehicle. The detainees are being interrogated and legal action is being taken.”
The seized money was counted using an electronic machine in the presence of DCM Rajib Dutta and later deposited at the police station.
The recovery has sparked considerable curiosity and unease throughout the subdivision.
