Agartala, Aug 14: The Tripura State Pharmaceutical Price Monitoring & Resource Unit (TPMRU), under the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, organised a district-level seminar on “Regulation of Medicine Price by NPPA & Introduction of ‘Pharma Sahi Daam’” at the ILS Nursing Institute Auditorium, West Tripura.
Deputy Drugs Controller Smt. K. Sinha delivered the welcome address, followed by a presentation on TPMRU’s five-year journey since its inception in 2019. Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Tapan Majumdar, Director of Health Services, emphasised that affordable medicines are essential for public health and social equity.

Special addresses were given by Prof. Swapna Chakraborty, Dr. Goutam Hazarika, and Dr. Soubhik Debbarma. Shri Dibakar Paul, Project Coordinator, TPMRU Society, introduced the ‘Pharma Sahi Daam’ mobile app, which allows consumers to check government-notified prices of medicines and report overcharging.
The programme proved particularly useful for ILS Nursing Institute students, faculty, and staff, equipping them with knowledge on medicine price regulations and ethical healthcare practices. TPMRU reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening enforcement, raising public awareness, and leveraging technology to ensure affordable medicines for all citizens of Tripura.
