Tripura, 08 August 2025: Based on a tip-off, Bishalgarh police intercepted a vehicle carrying 98 kg of dry cannabis in the Sukanta Colony area on Thursday evening. The traffickers abandoned the Maruti car and fled the scene.
Police sources said they received confidential information around 5 p.m. that a Maruti S-Presso car carrying dry cannabis was traveling from Agartala towards Gokulnagar via Kamalasagar. Acting swiftly, Bishalgarh police chased the vehicle and managed to stop it at Sukanta Colony in Gokulnagar.
As soon as the vehicle was detained, the driver escaped. Large crowds had gathered at the scene as police conducted the search. Upon inspection, police discovered 49 sacks containing a total of 98 kg of dry cannabis.
The contraband was weighed in the presence of DCM Prosenjit Das and later taken to Bishalgarh police station. The operation was led by OC Bijoy Das along with the entire police team.
