Khowai, August 7: A dead body was recovered near the riverbank in the Dinkobra area under the jurisdiction of Champahour Police Station in the Khowai subdivision. Multiple injury marks inflicted by a sharp weapon were found on the body, leading to suspicions that it may be a case of murder.
According to police sources, local residents of Dinkobra spotted the unidentified body floating in the water this morning and immediately informed the Champahour Police Station. Police reached the spot and initiated a preliminary investigation. Efforts were made to identify the deceased through various sources.
Eventually, the deceased was identified as Narayan Debnath (44), a resident of Mahadebtila area in Khowai. Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue at Khowai District Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Injuries from a sharp weapon were found in multiple areas of the body. The victim’s family members have also alleged that he was murdered and his body was dumped at the spot.
