Agartala, August 7, 2025: A Muslim youth was intercepted with a minor Hindu girl at Agartala Railway Station on Wednesday, allegedly while attempting to travel with her to Bangalore. The incident came to light after alert members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal spotted the pair and notified the Government Railway Police (GRP).
According to Kaushik Paul, a Bajrang Dal functionary, it was a VHP worker who first noticed the two at the station. Upon initial questioning, the group found that the girl was a minor and belonged to a Hindu family, prompting immediate intervention. The youth and the girl were handed over to the GRP, and later the girl was reunited with her family.

Speaking to reporters, the victim’s mother stated, “She had left home around 2 PM saying she was going to tuition. But when the tuition teacher informed us that she hadn’t come, we started looking for her.”
A case has been filed at the East Agartala Women Police Station against the Muslim youth under relevant sections of the law related to child protection and abduction. The girl’s family and members of the VHP accompanied the filing, seeking a thorough investigation.
Kaushik Paul further alleged that the Muslim youth may be involved in human trafficking, as the intent behind the journey to Bangalore remains unclear.
Police have begun a formal investigation into the case to determine the full circumstances and any possible criminal network involvement.
