Tripura, 07 August 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Monday stressed the importance of value-based education in shaping a better society. Addressing a textbook distribution ceremony at Baba Loknath Temple in Agartala, he said that true education is the foundation for gaining wisdom and overcoming ignorance, and the first teacher in that journey is a mother.
“Today’s generation must be nurtured not just with academic knowledge, but also with a mindset to serve and support others in society,” said the Chief Minister. During the event, he ceremonially handed over textbooks to ten students.

Organized by the Baba Loknath Sebashram, the event saw the distribution of textbooks to 95 Class XI students from 19 schools affiliated with TBSE and CBSE.
Dr. Saha highlighted the state government’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and the quality of education in Tripura. He said the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) has played a vital role in ensuring access to quality education across the state. He noted that Tripura has made significant progress in higher education, with a Central University, National Law College, increased MBBS seats to 400, B.Sc. Nursing seats raised to 50, and the opening of a new Dental College.
He called on students to pursue knowledge that will help elevate Tripura’s name on the global stage.
Other dignitaries who addressed the gathering included Sharbori Nath, Principal of Women’s College, and Sanjoy Pal, President of Baba Loknath Sebashram. The event was also graced by special guests including Agartala Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumder, and Agartala Municipal Corporation Corporator Ratna Dutta. Welcome address was delivered by Amulya Bhattacharya, Secretary of the Sebashram.
