Agartala, August 4 (Monday): A delegation from the Tripura Electronics Media Society met Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today, raising key concerns faced by the state’s electronic media sector. Among the primary issues discussed were the prolonged delay in payment of advertisement dues from the Information and Cultural Affairs Department and the need for broader policy support for the media industry.
During the meeting, the delegation urged the Chief Minister to take swift action to resolve the pending dues, which they said have caused significant financial strain on local media houses. Dr. Saha attentively listened to the concerns and assured the representatives that necessary steps would be initiated at the earliest.
The delegation comprised several prominent editors and office bearers of the Society, including Sourajit Paul (News Today), Ranjit Debbarma (Chini Khorang), Manish Saha (Search India TNN), Samaresh Dey (Asian Times), Abhishek Dey (Sandan TV), Somen Deb (Rise East), Manas Debbarma (Khumpui TV), and Hanif Ali (Rising Tripura).
The Society expressed confidence that the state government would respond proactively to safeguard the interests of electronic media professionals and ensure a more sustainable working environment for the sector.
