CM Announces Recruitment Process for 218 Sub-Inspectors Soon
Agartala, 13 May 2025: In a major step towards strengthening the state police force, 975 newly selected constables, including 332 women, received their appointment letters today during a special ceremony held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha inaugurated the event and personally handed over appointment letters to several candidates. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said this day marks a memorable moment for many families, as some candidates are the first government job-holders in their households.
He attributed the successful recruitment to the transparent policy of the state government and the hard work of the aspirants. “This is a significant milestone in youth employment in the state,” he added. He further announced that the recruitment process for 218 sub-inspectors will begin soon, and the government has already approved 916 additional constable posts. The listing process for 6,067 Special Executives is also underway.


The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening administrative transparency and infrastructure, ensuring employment opportunities reach even the most marginalized. He noted that since the current government came to power, over 17,554 people have received government jobs, with 4,499 appointments made in 2025 alone. In line with the state’s 33% reservation policy for women, 332 female candidates have been recruited, aiming to empower women both socially and economically. He praised Tripura Police for its relentless efforts in maintaining law and order.
As a result, Tripura now ranks third-lowest in overall crime, eighth-lowest in crimes against women and the body, and the lowest in property-related crimes among 28 Indian states. Crime rates fell by 19.4% in 2024 compared to 2023, and a further 10% decline has been noted in the first four months of 2025.
The Chief Minister also mentioned Tripura Police’s contributions during recent elections, which earned appreciation from the Election Commission of India. He highlighted the state’s commitment to a women-friendly environment, including the establishment of 2407 women help desks, the operation of the 1091 women helpline, and nine dedicated women police stations one in each district.
He concluded by urging the new recruits to serve the public with integrity and build a friendly relationship with the people, thereby strengthening the police department’s image. The event was also attended by Rajya Sabha

DGP Amitabh Ranjan delivered the welcome address, while Anurag Dhyanakar, DGP (Intelligence), gave the vote of thanks.
