Tripura, 12 May 2025: A severe lightning strike yesterday caused widespread damage across 40 percent of the Hezamara Block under Mohanpur Subdivision. In response, the subdivision administration set up four relief camps to shelter the affected population. These camps have been established at Goyamani English Medium JB School, Akhaliyachhara English Medium Higher Secondary School, Chandrichhara SB School, and Shankhala SB School.


According to the administration, a total of 991 individuals from 335 families have taken shelter in these camps. Among them are 471 men, 468 women, and 52 children. The authorities have arranged food and other necessary support for the displaced families.
Today, Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Brishaketu Debbarma, along with Executive Member of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) Rabindra Debbarma and Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Subhash Dutta, visited the affected areas and relief camps to assess the situation firsthand.
The visit underscores the administration’s commitment to supporting the victims of the natural calamity.
