Agartala, Oct 28 : Tripura Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma on Wednesday inaugurated the renovated Tripura Nature Trails and Resorts (TNTR) facility at Sepahijala and launched an e-bike service to promote sustainable tourism at the wildlife sanctuary.
The initiatives are aimed at improving visitor amenities and encouraging environment-friendly exploration of Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the state’s prominent nature-based tourism destinations.
The renovated resort has been upgraded to provide tourists with improved facilities and a more comfortable stay, while the newly introduced battery-operated bicycles will offer visitors an eco-friendly mode of transport to explore the sprawling sanctuary and its zoo.
Officials said the e-bike service would help minimise the environmental impact of tourism activities while enabling visitors to experience the sanctuary’s rich biodiversity, forest landscapes and natural surroundings.
The service is expected to benefit nature enthusiasts, wildlife lovers and families seeking a convenient and sustainable way to explore the destination.
Speaking at the inauguration, Debbarma said the initiatives were part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen nature-based tourism and improve the overall experience of visitors.
He emphasised the need to balance tourism development with environmental conservation, noting that improved infrastructure and sustainable transport facilities could encourage responsible tourism while reducing pressure on sensitive ecosystems.
The minister also highlighted the importance of protecting Tripura’s forests, wildlife and natural heritage alongside the development of tourism infrastructure.
The upgraded TNTR resort is expected to enhance accommodation facilities for tourists visiting the sanctuary, which is known for its biodiversity and zoological attractions.
Officials said the new facilities could help attract more visitors to the destination and raise awareness about wildlife conservation and environmental protection.
Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary is among Tripura’s key attractions for nature-based tourism, drawing visitors interested in its forest ecosystems and wildlife.
The initiatives form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen eco-tourism infrastructure and promote sustainable travel in the northeastern state.
Debbarma reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting responsible tourism while preserving the state’s natural resources for future generations.
The renovated resort and the e-bike service are expected to provide visitors with improved facilities and encourage environmentally conscious exploration of the sanctuary, officials said.
