Santirbazar (Tripura), October 2: A new physiotherapy facility was inaugurated at the Santirbazar District Hospital premises in South Tripura on Friday, with organisers saying it would provide residents easier access to rehabilitation and mobility-related services.
The Sunshine Physiotherapy Clinic, set up on the initiative of Dr Sairan Saha, was formally inaugurated by Prabhu Karuneshwar Madhav Das, spiritual leader of the ISKCON-run Jagannath Ji Temple at Baikhora.
The ceremony was attended by elected representatives, government officials, community leaders and residents.
The inauguration began with traditional rituals, including ribbon cutting, lighting of incense and chanting of Vedic mantras, conducted by Prabhu Das.
Buddha Bhanteji, Santirbazar Municipal Council Chairman Sapna Baidya, Vice-Chairman Satyabrata Saha, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Pabitra Das and Councillor Nepal Chandra Das were among those present.
Several other officials and members of the local community also attended the event.
The clinic authorities announced free physiotherapy services for patients on the inaugural day. The move was aimed at familiarising residents with the newly established facility and its range of services.
The clinic is expected to offer physiotherapy and rehabilitation support to patients dealing with mobility difficulties, physical injuries and other conditions requiring specialised care. Services will also include assistance related to pain management and recovery.
Speaking at the programme, Prabhu Karuneshwar Madhav Das expressed hope that the clinic would benefit people living in Santirbazar and other parts of South Tripura.
He said having physiotherapy services available locally would reduce the need for patients to travel to distant locations to seek rehabilitation and mobility-related treatment.
