Tripura, 28 Sep 2026: A tragic incident in the Champahour area of Khowai has claimed the life of a one-and-a-half-year-old child after the toddler reportedly fell into water.
The deceased child has been identified as Rwngmari Debbarma.
According to local sources, the child was near the house when the incident occurred. The toddler reportedly fell into a water body under circumstances that are yet to be fully ascertained. After family members noticed the incident, they immediately rescued the child and attempted to rush the toddler to the hospital. However, the child could not be saved.
The sudden death of the one-and-a-half-year-old has plunged the family and the local community into deep grief. Relatives and residents are struggling to come to terms with the tragic loss.
The circumstances leading to the child falling into the water are being looked into. The incident has also raised concerns over the need for greater vigilance around water bodies, particularly when young children are nearby.
