Agartala, September 27: Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Sunday listened to the 138th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat at Lok Bhavan here, along with officers, employees and security personnel.
Nallu attended the programme with Lok Bhavan officers and employees, their family members, security personnel and CRPF personnel posted at the Governor’s residence.
Speaking to reporters after the programme, the Governor said Mann Ki Baat has been highlighting developmental activities, achievements and initiatives being undertaken across the country.
The programme also draws attention to issues of public concern and encourages citizens to remain aware of developments and contribute to the process of nation-building, he said.
Nallu said Prime Minister Modi has consistently urged citizens, particularly young people, to play an active role in the country’s development and progress.
“Collective participation and responsible citizenship are essential for building a stronger and more developed India,” the Governor said.
He also highlighted the Prime Minister’s appeal to citizens to work towards making the country free from drug abuse.
Nallu urged people to take initiatives to spread awareness among communities, particularly young people, about the harmful effects of drugs and work collectively towards building a drug-free society.
The Governor also referred to the Centre’s One District, One Product (ODOP) initiative and called upon people in Tripura to make greater efforts to promote the state’s distinctive products.
He said Tripura’s locally produced goods have the potential to receive wider recognition in national and international markets if they are promoted effectively.
Nallu particularly stressed the need to showcase the state’s rich bamboo resources and traditional bamboo-based products, besides locally produced indigenous food items.
He urged citizens, producers and other stakeholders to contribute to efforts aimed at giving greater visibility to Tripura’s traditional and locally made products.
The Governor said initiatives that encourage local production, entrepreneurship and wider market access can contribute to livelihood generation and economic development.
The programme at Lok Bhavan also provided an opportunity for officers, employees, their family members and security personnel to participate together in the nationwide broadcast.
Secretary to the Governor U.K. Chakma was also present at the programme.
