Agartala, September 17: A blood donation camp organised at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala on Thursday witnessed the participation of Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and BJP national general secretary Biplab Kumar Deb as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
Deb, who is the Lok Sabha member from Tripura West and a former chief minister of the state, donated blood at the programme. Saha inspected the arrangements at the venue, interacted with donors and subsequently took part in the blood donation drive.
The camp was among a series of service-oriented programmes organised across Tripura in connection with Modi’s birthday. The organisers said the initiative sought to promote voluntary blood donation and encourage people to extend support to those in need.
Speaking to reporters, Deb referred to Modi’s career in public life, recalling his tenure as Gujarat chief minister before becoming Prime Minister. He said Modi had remained engaged in public service for a long period.
Deb also referred to the objective of building a Viksit Bharat and cited developments in the defence sector as an indication of growing domestic manufacturing capabilities. He mentioned the production of warships, fighter aircraft and other defence equipment within the country while highlighting the emphasis on self-reliance.
On the Digital India initiative, Deb said the expansion of digital infrastructure had made a range of services more accessible to ordinary citizens. He noted that several facilities that had once appeared difficult to access had become increasingly available through digital platforms.
The programme was attended by BJP leaders, government representatives, party workers, blood donors and members of the public.
According to the organisers, the campaign sought to link the birthday observance with community service, with blood donation being presented as a direct contribution towards helping people requiring medical assistance.
The organisers also appealed for wider public participation in voluntary blood donation and other social-service activities undertaken under the campaign.
