Khowai: Sept 08: Two people were killed and another was critically injured after a motorcycle carrying three people collided head-on with a car in the Baijalbari police station area of Khowai district on Tuesday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Biswajit Santal and Biswajit Munda. The injured, Tapan Goala, is undergoing treatment at Khowai District Hospital and is reported to be in critical condition.
According to local sources, the accident occurred at around 6 pm when the motorcycle carrying the three men collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that the motorcycle went underneath the car.
On receiving information, local residents rushed to the spot and informed the fire and emergency services. Firefighters rescued the injured persons from the accident site and took them to Khowai District Hospital.
After providing initial treatment, doctors declared Biswajit Santal and Biswajit Munda dead.
Police have begun investigating the circumstances that led to the accident. The incident has cast a pall of grief over the area.
