Tripura, 23 August 2026: The water level of the Howrah River in Agartala is nearing the danger mark, prompting the Sadar Sub-Divisional Administration to issue a special public announcement urging residents living near the river to remain alert and move to safe shelters if necessary.
As per the latest water level report from WR Sub-Division, Agartala, the water level at the Jahar Bridge, Battala gauge station was recorded at 11.20 metres at 10:00 PM on August 23, 2026.
The warning level is 9.86 metres, the critical level is 10.72 metres, and the danger level is 11.22 metres. The extreme danger level is 11.72 metres. The administration has also reported that the water level is gradually reducing.
The highest flood level recorded at the station was 12.05 metres on August 22, 2024.
In a special announcement, the Sadar Sub-Divisional Administration said the water level of the Howrah River had crossed the danger threshold and appealed to people living near the river to take necessary precautions and move to the nearest designated shelter house or other safe location.
Citizens living in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert, closely follow official advisories and take necessary safety measures as the situation continues to be monitored.
