Agartala: West Tripura MP and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has been appointed National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking his elevation to a key organisational role in the party at the national level.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha congratulated Deb on his appointment and expressed confidence that his administrative experience, organisational skills and grassroots leadership would help further strengthen the BJP across the country.
Deb has played a prominent role in the BJP’s growth in Tripura and has remained closely associated with the party’s organisational activities in the state. His appointment as National General Secretary is expected to give him a larger role in the BJP’s organisational affairs and political programmes at the national level.
Party leaders and workers in Tripura also extended their best wishes to the former Chief Minister following the announcement. They expressed confidence that Deb would discharge his new responsibility with dedication and contribute to expanding and strengthening the party organisation across the country.
Deb served as Chief Minister of Tripura from 2018 to 2022 after the BJP came to power in the state in 2018. He later represented Tripura in the Rajya Sabha before being elected to the Lok Sabha from the West Tripura parliamentary constituency.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Saha also congratulated all the newly appointed national office-bearers of the BJP and said the new team would play an important role in strengthening the party organisation.
“Under the guidance of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Hon’ble National President-BJP Shri Nitin Nabin Ji, this energetic and experienced team will empower our karyakartas, strengthen the organization and accelerate our mission of Viksit Bharat,” Saha said.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the newly constituted team would provide fresh momentum to the BJP’s organisational activities and strengthen coordination with party workers at different levels.
Deb’s inclusion in the national leadership is being viewed as significant for Tripura BJP, where he has remained one of the party’s prominent faces. His new assignment will see him taking on wider organisational responsibilities as the BJP focuses on strengthening its network and political outreach nationwide.
