Tripura, 14 August 2026: A boat race competition was organised at Amarsagar in Amarpur on Friday as part of the celebrations marking the 80th Independence Day. The event was organised by the Amarpur Sub-Divisional Administration.
The competition was inaugurated by MLA Ranjit Das. Amarpur Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Bikash Saha, Amarpur Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Suchitra Das, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Anupam Chakraborty and other officials were present at the event.
A total of six teams participated in the boat race. The teams securing the first, second and third positions were awarded prizes. In addition, each participating team was provided with a cash amount of ₹1,200.
As part of the Independence Day celebrations, a drawing competition for children was also organised in the morning at the premises of Ramthakur Ashram with the support of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department.
A total of 136 students participated in the drawing competition across four different groups.
