Tripura, August 10: Security arrangements have been intensified across Tripura’s Dhalai district ahead of Independence Day, with increased patrolling along the Bangladesh border and enhanced checking at railway stations, naka points and other sensitive locations.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Dhalai District Superintendent of Police Rushikesh Desai said comprehensive security measures have been put in place to prevent any untoward incident during the Independence Day celebrations.
The SP said Dhalai is the largest district in Tripura by geographical area and has one of the state’s longest stretches of the India-Bangladesh international border. In view of Independence Day, security along the border areas has been strengthened in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), with increased joint patrolling.
“Security arrangements will remain tight for a week ahead of Independence Day,” Desai said, adding that security has also been strengthened in interior areas, towns, important locations and other vulnerable points across the district.
He said checking at all naka points has been intensified, while railway stations and other sensitive locations are also under enhanced surveillance.
According to the SP, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) teams will conduct anti-sabotage checks as part of the security arrangements. He said the police are fully prepared to ensure that no untoward incident takes place during the celebrations.
The security arrangements are being coordinated with various agencies, including the BSF, CRPF and Tripura State Rifles (TSR), to ensure a safe and peaceful Independence Day on August 15.
Desai also extended Independence Day greetings to the people of Dhalai and urged everyone to celebrate the occasion safely. He appealed to citizens to actively participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and other Independence Day celebrations.
