New Delhi, August 2: India’s Commonwealth Games weightlifting contingent received a warm welcome upon arriving in New Delhi after an impressive campaign. Gold medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu expressed immense pride in winning a medal for the country and said the achievement was especially meaningful as she hails from Manipur.
Speaking to the media at the airport, Chanu said she was “extremely happy” to have brought glory to India.
“I am extremely happy for India. I have won a medal, and I feel very proud. I belong to Manipur, so this makes me even happier. I have been able to do something for India. Thank you so much,” she said.
Mirabai Chanu’s gold medal adds another remarkable chapter to her illustrious career and reinforces her status as one of India’s most successful weightlifters.
