New Delhi, 29 July 2026: Instagram influencer Shardha Singh, who has more than 375,000 followers, has issued a public apology after facing widespread criticism over a viral reel she recorded during the NEET paper leak protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.
The reel, filmed while students were protesting over the alleged NEET paper leak, drew backlash after many social media users accused her of mocking Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel deployed at the protest site.
In her apology video, Singh said she wanted to apologise to members of the armed forces and security personnel, stressing that her apology was voluntary and not made under pressure or because of online criticism.
> “I want to apologise to the Army personnel. I am not doing this because of pressure or because someone asked me to. I realised my mistake myself,” she said.
Singh claimed she had deleted the original reel within an hour of uploading it. However, she alleged that several meme pages had downloaded the video and continued circulating it on social media.
She further claimed that when she requested some of the meme pages to remove the clip, they refused, allegedly saying they had been paid to keep it online. She also said the controversy had escalated to the point where abusive messages were being directed not only at her but also at her family.
Acknowledging that she had made a mistake, Singh appealed to social media users not to target her family over the incident.
The controversy continues to generate debate online, with some users accepting her apology while others remain critical of her actions during the student protest at Jantar Mantar.
