Pradyot Manikya Returns to Facebook Live, Thanks Supporters and Promises Major Reforms in Tipra Motha
Agartala, July 28: Tipra Motha founder and Tripura royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma on Tuesday made his first Facebook Live appearance after a long gap, expressing gratitude to supporters for standing by him during his medical treatment and his mother’s illness.
Opening the live session, Pradyot thanked people from across Tripura for their prayers, messages and support, describing the past few months as one of the most challenging phases of his life. He said recovering from treatment would take time but assured supporters that he was determined to return stronger.
“I am not someone who gives up. I will fight to get fit, stay strong and continue fighting for the rights of the Tiprasa people,” he said.
During the address, Pradyot responded to criticism over his recent silence, saying many had questioned why he had not spoken publicly on several issues. He maintained that although he chose not to make public statements, he had continued working behind the scenes for the welfare of the community, including helping people in need and raising concerns over recruitment issues.
He asserted that his commitment to the Tiprasa cause should never be doubted and claimed that many facts had remained undisclosed because he did not want internal differences to damage the community’s image.
Speaking on governance, the Tipra Motha chief announced that a reform committee would soon be formed to bring structural changes within the system. He said the committee would directly involve young entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, writers, sportspersons and professionals instead of relying solely on politicians and government officials.
Pradyot also reiterated his stand against irregular appointments, stating that no illegal recruitment would be allowed and that a new, transparent procedure would be introduced. He indicated that action regarding disputed recruitment notifications could be taken through legal means in the coming days.
Calling upon the youth, particularly members of the Tipra Indigenous Students Federation (TISF) and the Youth Tipra Federation (YTF), he urged them to speak up against injustice without waiting for his permission.
“You have the constitutional right to raise your voice. Take responsibility for your people and your future,” he said.
Pradyot further highlighted ongoing legal efforts related to constitutional rights, customary laws and land rights for indigenous people, saying these issues were being pursued before the Supreme Court.
He also appealed to the Government of India to begin implementing the Tiprasa Accord, stating that four months had passed since the ADC elections and urging the Centre to move forward without further delay for the benefit of future generations.
In his concluding remarks, Pradyot once again thanked supporters who wished him well during his illness and reaffirmed his commitment to the Tiprasa community.
Ending on a defiant note, he declared that he remained silent but neither afraid nor compromised, promising that his future actions would speak louder than words.
