Tripura, 25 July 2026: A human skeleton was recovered from the Chandrai Chhara in the Natun Pali area of Ambassa on Saturday morning, sending shockwaves through the local community. The skeleton was found on a plot of land belonging to local resident Khagesh Debnath.
According to reports, laborers working on Debnath’s property near the stream spotted the skeletal remains early in the morning. They immediately informed the landowner, who promptly alerted the Ambassa police station.
Upon receiving the information, police personnel from Ambassa police station rushed to the spot, led by Officer-in-Charge Nandan Das. The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Kishore Uchui, also arrived at the scene to oversee the initial investigation.
Authorities subsequently informed the District Magistrate, a forensic team, and medical officers. Deputy Collector & Magistrate (DCM) Puja Reang arrived shortly after, along with a forensic team and doctors from Dhalai District Hospital. Under the supervision of the DCM, the forensic experts examined the skeleton, and doctors conducted a preliminary post-mortem examination at the site itself.
Speaking to reporters, SDPO Kishore Uchui said, “We received information this morning about the recovery of a human skeleton in the Chandrai stream of the New Pallie area. Police reached the spot immediately upon receiving the news. The investigation will reveal who the skeleton belongs to and its origin.”
He added, “Preliminary assessment suggests the skeleton is approximately over a month old, as no flesh remains on any part of the body. It is possible that the remains were washed away by the water current. Based on our initial investigation, it appears to be the skeleton of a male. The forensic team’s findings will likely provide more concrete information.”
The landowner, Khagesh Debnath, stated, “The laborers working on my land this morning spotted the skeleton and informed me. I immediately called the police, who arrived within a short time and began their inquiry.”
The recovery of the human skeleton has created a wave of anxiety and curiosity among residents of the New Pallie area, with many gathering at the site as the investigation continues. Police have cordoned off the area and are awaiting detailed forensic reports to ascertain the identity and circumstances surrounding the death.
