Agartala, July 21: Students and research scholars of Tripura University on Tuesday organised a peaceful, non-political demonstration expressing solidarity with education reform activist Sonam Wangchuk while protesting against recurring examination paper leaks across the country.
The demonstration commenced from Building No. 11 on the university campus and concluded with a silent march to the Open Theatre, where participants reiterated their demand for greater transparency in the examination system and stronger measures to safeguard merit and academic integrity.
Carrying placards and raising awareness through a peaceful march, the students called for a fair and accountable education system that ensures equal opportunities and quality education for all. The participants stressed that repeated incidents of examination paper leaks have eroded the trust of students and demanded effective reforms to prevent such irregularities in the future.
The organisers clarified that the programme was entirely peaceful and non-political, aimed solely at highlighting issues affecting students and extending support to the ongoing movement for educational reforms led by Sonam Wangchuk.
The demonstration concluded without any untoward incident, with participants urging authorities to take concrete steps to restore confidence in the country’s examination system and uphold the principles of fairness and merit.
