Agartala, July 18: Police have arrested the prime accused in connection with the murder of Gobinda Das, who was allegedly assaulted in the Ranirkhamar area under Amtali Police Station.
According to police, Gobinda Das, a resident of the Rathkhala area near Kalimata Sangha, was brutally assaulted at Ranirkhamar. Following the incident, Amtali Police registered Case No. 68/2026 under Section 117(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Das later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment early on Saturday, turning the assault case into a murder investigation.
Police confirmed that the main accused, a 28-year-old resident of Ranirkhamar, has been arrested. Investigators are currently questioning the accused to ascertain the motive behind the attack and identify whether others were involved.
Officials said the investigation is progressing, and the accused will be produced before the court on Sunday with a plea for police remand to facilitate further interrogation.
