Agartala, July 8: The admission process for the first semester of the 2026–27 academic session at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) College, Agartala, is still underway, with a significant number of seats remaining vacant.
According to the admission and vacancy statistics released by the college on July 7, a total of 1,050 students have secured admission so far, while 990 seats are still available across various departments.
Among the admitted students, 606 belong to the General (UR) category, 300 are from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category, and 144 are from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.

Department-wise, the Commerce stream has recorded the highest admissions with 102 students, followed by Sociology (93), Economics (66), English (65), Political Science (64), Education (62), and History (61).
In terms of vacant seats, the Hindi department has the highest number with 110 seats still unfilled. It is followed by Sanskrit (107), Philosophy (78), Kokborok (68), Bengali (62), History (59), Commerce (58), Education (58), and Political Science (56).
Notably, the Psychology department is almost fully occupied, with only one SC category seat remaining vacant.
The figures released by the college indicate that the admission process is still in progress, and a large number of seats across several departments are expected to be filled in the upcoming rounds of admissions.
