Tripura, 22 April 2025: Following its sweeping victory in the 2026 TTAADC elections, the Tipra Motha Party has achieved yet another significant political milestone. On Wednesday, around 11:50 AM, the party officially took control of the Uttar Ekchhari Panchayat, marking a major shift in the local political landscape.
The panchayat, which had reportedly been under the control of the Bharatiya Janata Party since 2018, has now transitioned into the hands of Tipra Motha. Allegations have surfaced that the BJP continued to run the panchayat for nearly eight years without conducting proper elections. Local residents have also expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that development initiatives in the area were inadequate during this period.

Sources indicate that concerns over administrative inefficiency and prolonged one-party dominance contributed to growing public discontent. Many believe that these factors ultimately paved the way for the recent political shift.
Since its historic performance in the TTAADC elections, Tipra Motha Party has been steadily expanding its influence across various regions. The takeover of Uttar Ekchhari Panchayat is being viewed as a clear sign of the party’s rising grassroots strength. Celebrations were witnessed among party supporters, including a victory rally in front of the panchayat office.
Local leaders of Tipra Motha have stated that their focus will be on public welfare and accelerating development in the area. They have assured that key issues such as road infrastructure, drinking water supply, healthcare services, and education will be prioritized.
Meanwhile, BJP supporters have expressed disappointment over the development, alleging that political pressure played a role in the takeover. However, a section of the local population views the change as a reflection of long-standing demands for better governance and accountability.
Overall, the capture of Uttar Ekchhari Panchayat is being considered a major political success for Tipra Motha Party, and attention now turns to how effectively the new leadership delivers on its promises of development and reform.
