Tripura, 31 Dec 2025: The final match of the Longtharai Valley Sub-Divisional Inter-Hostel Football Tournament was held yesterday at the Class XII School Ground, 82 Mile. The tournament was organised by the Department of Tribal Welfare with the cooperation of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports.
A total of 27 teams participated in the tournament across boys’ and girls’ categories. The competition commenced on December 18 and witnessed enthusiastic participation from hostels across the sub-division.
In the boys’ category, the Kathalchhara Boys’ Hostel team emerged as champions, while in the girls’ category, the Kathalchhara TMC Government Girls’ Hostel team clinched the title.
The final match was attended by several dignitaries, including MLA Paul Dangshu, MDC Bimal Kanti Chakma, Longtharai Valley Sub-Divisional Magistrate Subrata Das, and Chairman of the Sub-Divisional Level Boarding House Committee Joy Bahadur Rupini, along with senior officials from various departments and noted social workers.
Addressing the gathering before the final match, the guests highly appreciated the joint initiative of the Department of Tribal Welfare and the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports. They noted that such tournaments, alongside academic pursuits, help inculcate patriotism, discipline, self-confidence, and physical fitness among students.
After the final match, the dignitaries presented trophies and medals to the champions in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, marking the successful conclusion of the tournament.
