Tripura, 31 Dec 2025: A district-level hostel football tournament was organised today at the Synthetic Turf Football Ground of Sudhyana Debbarma Smriti Vidyalaya in Jampuijala subdivision under Sipahijala district.
The tournament was conducted under the initiative of the Department of Social Welfare and featured competitions in two categories boys and girls. Hostel football teams from Jampuijala, Sonamura, and Bishalgarh subdivisions participated in the event, with one team each representing the boys’ and girls’ categories from their respective subdivisions.
In the boys’ category, the ST Hostel Football Team of Sudhyana Debbarma Smriti Vidyalaya, Jampuijala subdivision, emerged as champions. In the girls’ category, the ST Girls’ Hostel Football Team of Sonamura Government Higher Secondary School, Sonamura subdivision, clinched the championship title.
The tournament witnessed the presence of Jampuijala Sub-Divisional Magistrate Amitabh Chakma and Samir Debbarma, Additional Director of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department, Sipahijala district, along with other officials, who encouraged the participants and appreciated the initiative to promote sports among hostel students.
