Tripura, December 28, 2025: The Padma Shri Beni Chandra Jamatia Memorial Football Tournament 2025 concluded successfully with its final match held on Sunday at the Debbari Senior Basic School ground in Debbari Jamatia village under Amarpur subdivision.
The knockout football tournament was organised by the Chubachu Foundation and began on November 23, 2025. A total of 20 teams from different villages participated in the tournament, making it a major grassroots sporting event in the region.

The final match was attended by several dignitaries, including Amarpur MLA Ranjit Das and Amarpur BAC Chairman Rabitra Jamatia. Also present on the occasion were the Founder of Chubachu Foundation Kamal Jamatia, members of the Jamatia Hoda Panchai, village Chokdiri, Amarpur SDPO Nirman Das, local representatives and other invited guests.
In the keenly contested final, Nograi FC of Nograi Village emerged as the champions and were awarded a cash prize of ₹30,000 along with a trophy and certificate. Gamaku Village finished as the runner-up team and received ₹20,000 along with a trophy and certificate.














Following the final match, a cultural programme was organised at the venue. The programme featured performances by popular local artistes including Rumi Murasing, Manik Debbarma, Ishita Tripura, Jiten Jamatia and Shreya Jamatia, drawing a large audience from surrounding villages.
The main objective of organising the tournament was to promote a drug-free society at the village level and to spread awareness about AIDS and HIV, especially among rural youth. Organisers highlighted that sports play an important role in keeping young people away from substance abuse while encouraging discipline and unity.
Special appreciation was extended to the Hakwchak Football Committee, whose members worked tirelessly from the opening match to the final to ensure the smooth conduct of the tournament.
Despite being a newly formed NGO, the Chubachu Foundation has already begun working extensively across Indigenous areas and has initiated several major social and developmental projects in Tripura.
The tournament received support and sponsorship from Swarnakamal Jeweller, the Department of Youth Affairs, Tripura State AIDS Control Society, TTAADC CEM Purna Chandra Jamatia, Dr. Kahamnuk Jamatia ICA Tripura, Tribal Research Institute and Tripura Tourism, Tiyari Welfare society.
Local residents and sports enthusiasts praised the organisers for successfully hosting the tournament and expressed hope that such initiatives would continue in the future to promote sports, culture and social awareness at the grassroots level.
