Agartala: Dec 29. The district-level Children’s Science Exhibition and Science Seminar was formally launched in Udaipur on Monday, with Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy inaugurating a newly constructed open stage at the Kirat Bikram Institution school campus.
The open stage has been built under the MLA Area Development Project of the Rural Development Department at a cost of ₹12.80 lakh. The two-day Gomati District-level Children’s Science Exhibition and Seminar is being held at the same venue.
Addressing the gathering, Finance Minister Singha Roy said science is inseparable from daily life and plays a crucial role in shaping the future. He praised students for showcasing their creativity and innovative thinking through scientific models, calling it a hopeful sign for the coming generation. He also highlighted the importance of science exhibitions in promoting scientific temper among students and stressed that science and technology are key to building Digital India and Digital Tripura. He added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has secured a strong position globally in science and technology.
The programme was attended by MLA Abhishek Debroy, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairperson Shital Chandra Majumdar, Gomati District Magistrate Rinku Lather, Udaipur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Tridib Sarkar, and other dignitaries. The welcome address was delivered by Debabrata Das, Assistant Headmaster of Chandrapur Colony Higher Secondary School, while the event was presided over by District Education Officer Kalyan Bhadra.
A special highlight of the event was the felicitation of students from Udaipur Chandrapur Higher Secondary School, who secured third place at the national level in the Hojagiri dance competition, during a cultural programme held on the open stage.
A total of 84 scientific models from various schools across the district are being displayed at the exhibition. The event, showcasing students’ innovative ideas and scientific skills, will conclude tomorrow.
